BLONDING: Clients, Wigs, and Extensions!

From fashion shows and editorial shoots, to back to back days at the salon, colorist Rachel Bodt’s color repertoire is multifaceted and technique driven. We had the pleasure of visiting her at work in New York City at Cutler Salon in SoHo. She was getting ready for a blonde touch up on one of her clients, Ipsy Editorial Director and Beauty Editor, Loni Venti. Loni is a natural level 6 and comes in for regular balayage and brightening.

Rachel uses Olaplex in all her formulations to keep the hair strong and healthy.

While Loni was processing, Rachel gave us a look into what else she had cooking. It was a wig and some extensions she was coloring for a model client of hers during New York Fashion Week. She told us Olaplex is essential to keeping these 100% human hair pieces healthy and in tact. She treated the wig with Shades EQ clear and 1/4oz Olaplex No.1 for 20 mins, then applied Olaplex No.2 all over the hair to be left on overnight for a lengthy restorative treatment.

TIP: Rachel always shampoos wigs with cool to mildly warm water in a downward motion with a sprayer in order to keep the hair tidy.
